November Cultural Event

CHRISTMAS IN THE PARK - DECEMBER 2007!

Join us in celebrating the winter holidays by decorating a TREE for the famous 'Christmas in the Park' display held every year in downtown San Jose. Let us all come together to represent the Evergreen Indian Community as a culturally vibrant part of the San Jose City population!

·  The theme for decorating the tree is "Arts & Crafts from India".

·  We welcome tree ornaments that represent this theme (for guidelines/rules, see below) in a batch of 5 or 10 from each family. We have a limit of 100 ornaments on a first come, first serve basis.

·  Please sign up here to confirm your participation. When you sign up, you can either opt to help us decorate the tree on Nov the 24th or trust us in doing a good job! There is a maximum limit of two adults (no restriction on kids) per family and a total of ten adults as helpers.

·  For locations and timings to drop off the ornaments, see below.

Guidelines/Rules for tree ornaments:

  1. All ornaments shall be weather proof.

  2. All ornaments shall be of the size, shape and color that are visible from 6 ft distance.

  3. There is no guarantee that the ornaments can be returned, however, EICA will try to do our best in collecting all the ornaments back. We will notify you of place/date/time for pick up, if interested.

  4. As a general guide, we are sticking to the following main colors- silver/white, gold, orange/bright red,

  5. You may sign your name and your family names on the ornaments.

  6. Ornaments can be store bought/readymade or hand made by you.

  7. All ornaments should have a mechanism to attach to the tree branch.

  8. No ornament can be heavy enough to break an average tree branch!

Theme: Arts & Crafts from India

The ornaments are crafts from the unique ethnic regions of India. Examples are: Ornaments with 'bandhini ( Indian tie & dye)' prints or other textile arts, pottery designs unique to various regions of India, Indian bead work, Indian wood toys, Indian dolls etc.
